Jurnal Pengajian Melayu diterbitkan sekali setahun oleh Jabatan Penerbitan, Akademi Pengajian Melayu, Universiti Malaya. Jurnal ini menerbitkan artikel adalah berasaskan dasar pihak profesional, prinsip amalan dan kemajuan dalam bidang Pengajian Melayu. Jurnal Pengajian Melayu menerima artikel dan ulasan buku dalam bahasa Melayu dan Inggeris yang berkaitan dengan dunia Melayu. Jurnal ini bertujuan untuk memberi ruang komunikasi antara pakar-pakar Melayu dan golongan profesional bagi memperkenalkan pemikiran baru, konsep-konsep, teori, dan sistem.
The Journal of Malay Studies is published annually by Deparment of Publication, Academy of Malay Studies, University of Malaya. The journal publishes original articles based on professional policies, practices principles and progress in the field of Malay Studies. The journal accepts articles and book reviews both in Malay and English on topics pertaining in the Malay world. The journal aims to provide a forum for communication among Malay experts, professionals, to introduce new thought, concepts, theory, and systems.

FORMAT
Manuscripts should preferably be 2,500-5,000 words in length. All manuscripts must be processed and printed double spaced throughout (including notes and references) on A4 white paper using one side only. A 1 1/2" margin should be left on all sides. The font type required is Arial, 12pt. The first page of the
manuscripts must contain the following information:
Title of article (Malay and English)
Name(s) and affiliation of authors(s)
Complete address, including telephone and fax numbers, and e-mail address
The second page of the manuscript should only contain the title of the article and an abstract (Malay and English*) of about 150-200 words and the keywords must be in 5 to 6 keywords. The text of the manuscript should begin with the title, and must not contain the author’s name(s). This is to ensure anonymity during the review process.
ACCURACY OF MATERIAL
It is the responsibility of the authors to check the accuracy of all data, statements and references.
COPYRIGHT
It is a condition of publication that manuscript submitted to the journal have not been published, accepted for publication nor simultaneously submitted for publication elsewhere. By submitting a manuscript, the author(s) agree that copyright for the article is transferred to the published, if and when the manuscript is accepted for publication.
STYLE
The style of manuscript should follow The Chicago Manual of Style, 14th ed. (Chicago: University of Chicago Press, 1993). References should be cited in the text using the ‘name and date’ style, e.g. “Summers (1993) said that …” or “research shows that … (Summers 1993)”. References at the end of the article should be listed in alphabetical order. The following are example of the recommended reference style:
