The Journal of Borneo-Kalimantan (JBK) is published twice a year and is managed by Institute of Borneo Studies (IBS), Universiti Malaysia Sarawak. IBS is dedicated to advancing research pertaining to community in this region and transferring knowledge from theory to practice for the betterment of the community. JBK is an international peer reviewed and open access journal with an objective to provide a platform for international scholars to publish high-quality multidisciplinary papers related to Borneo Kalimantan.

Aims and Scope
The Journal of Borneo-Kalimantan (JBK) serves an outlet for conceptual, empirical and practical papers in areas outlined as follows:

  1. Borneo history, heritage, arts, culture, traditions (e.g. festivals, food and custom practices), entertainment, social structure, language, values and beliefs;
  2. Sustainable community (innovation, intervention and transformation);
  3. Indigenous knowledge (preservation of community based Intellectual Property).
  4. Politics, economic and social related issues.
  5. Community health, safety, security and environmental issues.
  6. Education and learning, leadership and fostering of future generations.
  7. Community based industry, tourism and manpower planning and development.
  8. Infrastructure, technology and ICT related issues.
  9. Societal issues in Sarawak, Sabah, Brunei and Kalimantan (Indonesia) Any issues related to community in developing regions will also be considered.

General Instruction
  • Interested author(s) is required to submit his/her manuscripts where the length must not exceed 7,000 words. Author(s) must ensure that he/she have not submitted the manuscripts elsewhere for publication. Any manuscript, which does not conform to the required format, may be returned for necessary revision before publication.
  • Do state three potential reviewers m the subject of your manuscript, along with their affiliations and email addresses, in the email during submission. These reviewers must not be members of the editorial board nor advisory board of JBK. Only one of them is allowed to be from the same institution as yours.
  • All manuscripts should be submitted electronically to the managing editor (Dr. Hiram Ting) at borneokalimantanjournal@gmail.com. The soft copy must be in MS Word format. Please make sure it is virus free.
  • Allow normal margin of 1” (2.54 cm) for the entire manuscript.
  • Use single spaced text and allow space after each paragraph.
  • The first page paper should include manuscript title, authors name(s) and affiliation (including country). Please indicate who the corresponding author is.
  • The second page should start with the manuscript title, abstract (200 words maximum) and keywords (not more than 6 words), followed by the content of the manuscript.
  • Important formulae (displayed), figures and tables should be numbered consecutively throughout the manuscript.
  • Acknowledgement and information on any support should be stated after the manuscript content and before the references.

Text Fonts & Headings
  • Use font type Times New Roman.
  • Use font size 14 bold for the title.
  • Major headings should be centred in the column and in bold. Use capital letters.
  • Subheadings should be set in italics and in bold. They should be aligned to the left margin.
  • Use font size 12 for the author's and affiliation names and addresses.
  • Use font size 11 for the abstract, keywords, manuscript content, acknowledgement and references.

Tables and Figures
  • All tables and figures must be centred and the title should be placed at the top. Use font size 10.
  • Number all tables and figures with Arabic numerals.
  • Captions are placed at the bottom of the tables and figures.

  • Endnotes should be kept to a minimum.
  • Use single spacing and font size 10.

  • References should be complete and fellow the APA Style.
